Can I free myself from Stress in the Here and Now?
67BeiYin answers questions... Just ask! What's the benefit, what's the risk?
Question: I want to heal myself and I believe stress causes ailments and lack of stress leads to healing. In the face of stress, healing is difficult, if not impossible. If not impeded, the "body"(Spiritual, mental / emotional, and physical - the hologram, if you will) is totally capable of healing itself - this is what it is meant to do. I went through a lot of problems and recently I have manifested an inguinal hernia. I believe the Aetiology was a huge amount of STRESS, which is true with most ailments. How do you see this?
[Etiology', also 'Aetiology' = the study of the cause of disease.]
BeiYin: Yes, 'stress' seems to explain every thing lately! So it looks like that all of the problems you went through, weren't yet enough. On top of this you got an hernia! Do you think that you need to find some inspiration and a key, so that you can understand for what all your suffering might be good!? You haven't had the thought that maybe the creation of a split between that what you call 'hologram' and yourself might be the reason why stress happens? Can it be that the image you have of yourself is causing reactions when you are confronted with daily reality and these reactions are causing 'stress' because you are not aware of your background?
Comment: Stress is the result of mind activity and resultant emotions, stress is resistance to what is - avoiding / not accepting fully the content of this present moment.
BeiYin: OK, I see that obviously you know something and I see where you are coming from, - because recently a so called 'friend' in MySpace invited me to join the 'friends of E. Tolle' with the recommendation to read: "A NEW EARTH". - I wrote back that I'm not interested and that I can explain why not, - if being ask.
Comment: Yes, I'm interested to hear why this is so... I enjoyed Eckard Tolle's books,- I read 'New Earth' and 'Power of Now'... I don't remember them now, but I do remember enjoying them at the time.
BeiYin: To accept the 'present moment' it needs something more. The realization of this state of consciousness only can be the result of a *growing process* and can not happen just by establishing a new concept on top of the ones that are already part of ones personality. The new sophisticated concept of 'being in the now', mainly creates a new aspect of a fake reality within the fake reality of peoples normal life.
Comment: The result is 'Action' as opposed to just simply AWARENESS in each moment.
BeiYin: Yes, that is the *truth* when realized in ones existence, but as a concept it is fake and it will only create 'action' within a fake reality. That satisfies ones personality, but is nothing else than a sophisticated new trap, within all the traps in this society and it is the usual that it attracts a lot of followers. They can adept an attractive new concept and don't need to change much of their already established properties.
Comment: I believe stress causes ailments and lack of stress leads to healing. If I can accept to live in the 'present moment' then I will not have any stress and then I will be healed.
BeiYin: Indeed, stress causes more than 'ailment', it causes disease and destruction as a result of not going to the root. The 'body' how you call it, is the individual entity, that is separated from the whole by being identified with ones 'personality' that is built by all the concepts and beliefs established and stored in ones 'data base'. So creating a self image and with this confronting daily reality, that will not fit into ones expectations how things should be and so causing 'stress'. Now it is the easiest and that is the usual in this society and the state of development of most individuals, that the fault is given to something, mostly outside of oneself, so now it is the 'stress' that is the reason for nearly every thing. Not even asking for the real reason and the background of all...
To be identified with a 'hologram', that indeed is the highest possible and not only this, it is also the most dangerous trap, rising ones personality into the highest spheres the mind can imagine!
That's nearly as good as being saved by an old fashion strong belief system!
Comment: I listened to your SRE (Stress Release Exercise) and have started doing it. With all have said about stress how could I not do the SRE? The SRE seems to me to be an exercise in being PRESENT. Learning to be present is our primary reason to be here as humans. Our lack of presence is the main reason behind human (individual, family, local, national, global) difficulties.
BeiYin: Congratulation that you started the exercise! Just do it as a routine without expecting any thing or giving a specific meaning into it. Twice a day for twenty minutes, that's all. You can see it as a simple relaxation exercise. If there is showing up any kind of difficulty, then tell me about it and I will check it and correct it if necessary.
Yes, SRE is an exercise to learn to be 'present', but before this can be realized, practising the SRE creates the basic condition to be *aware* and this is only fully possible when ones unconscious background is cleared up and this can happen when we are self responsible and aware dealing with our daily life. Out of this, when relating and responding to daily happenings and encounters, comes our learning, growing and healing. You are right when saying that only a stress free condition can allow this, but it must not be totally free of stress, because stress is caused by our reactions and we need our reactions, to become aware of these and so clear them up, when we understand why we are reacting. Not any more giving the fault to the outside, but being aware that we have caused them by our concepts, beliefs and our self image, then we can decide if we want to hold on or let go of these worn out programs. To achieve this state, that gives the base to be aware of oneself in those until now unconscious parts, we are practising the SRE.
Comment: By learning to be present, we can heal our ailments - In healing our ailments, we are learning to be present.
BeiYin: When going consciously into our healing process, seeing our disease as a challenge and so responding in an active way, using our energy creatively, without wasting our strength in resistance or when these are showing up, being aware of it and continuing, then we are connected with our inner guidance as *intuition* and every moment of our existence is a valuable stepping stone towards our growing and healing as a *whole being*...

Hello BeiYin I seen you are a writer of many of the subjects that I have devoted my life to writing as well. I also see that you seem to be disgusted at the truth of this worlds people..the truth you speak of, they are not interested in healing only quick fixes. You may like my hub entitled "An Awakening moment" I posted a day ago then. It is sort of me letting off the steam about this very same feeling that as a ordained Buddhist teacher I get from time to time and more and more lately. I have decided and came to a realization that I am only harming myself and the ONE person that gets it if I decide to stop or give up. You mentioned giving up a few times on some things you've been doing for a while now such as the group. BeiYim don't you know that if you reach one person that you have done more for that person than they could ever repay you for? No matter the feeling us teachers get due to how many are not getting it or are not wanting to we must not give up my friend. I am now following you, I have a small group of hubbers that are fans here and maybe now they will hear your voice as well and come see what you are doing. I am also the Natural Health Examiner for Examiner.com of Louisville Ky USA. There I write on herbs and natural ways of life. That column is linked to my hub page and my hub page is now linked to yours. Together we will make them hear your voice. Now I have one pressing matter...You said this "For me the most heavy thing is that my intention to form a group of people with a similar intention, living in nature and without the pressure of making money, but doing something creative... now after 35 years of trying again and again, also comes to the point of giving up." What I am interested in knowing is are you talking about a physical thing? Because if you are we NEED to talk :-) Nameh!
Hi BeiYin,
I just want to say thank you for you writings and for sharing your knowledge and personal experiences.
I read almost all your articles and i find them fascinating, inspiring and very helpful!
I also have inguinal hernia for 4 years now and up untile now i was ignoring it, hoping it will disappear some day. A few months ago i decided to stop ignoring and to dieal with it. Then when the doctor told me that only with surgery it is possible to healed from an inguinal hernia i thought to myself that there mast be another way, cause i belive that the body can heal naturaly. So when i found your webpage about hernia it was like founding a secret treasure :)
Then i decided to start this journey of healing and transformation. Through this process i'm beginning to understand the destructive effect of stress on our lives!
I want to tell you also that i'm doing the SRE and i can feel it is making a big change in my life -
thank you!!
I would like to join the group that you talk about.
How to do it?

Hi BeiYin, I started training as a child psychotherapist a while back - in fact it wasn't the actual training it was the first step, a two year diploma to enable me to go into the training. It was an observational course, observing a baby for two years from birth, once a week. Then each week a group of us would come together and take it in turns to discuss what we had observed. It was absolutely fantastic, to begin to learn how to observe without putting our own 'stuff' on what we saw. It was wonderful to really see the baby/child. It was incredibly difficult however to be separate from the baby and from the situation even though we were only watching and it was only one hour a week. I am bringing this here because I want to show how difficult it is to be separate from all that goes on in our lives. Each interaction brings emotions, sensations, coloured interpretations. I do believe that meditation can be an extremely important tool to help us to be aware. With awareness we can be in the here and now and observe what stresses us and try to do something about it. When I was healthy I found it easy to meditate, now that I have health problems I find it difficult, but I am peservering even though resistence is there. I have huge amounts of stress in my life. One of them is the small amount of time I have to myself. I home educate and all my time is filled from the moment of waking until the moment I go to bed. Of course that is not completely true and there are moments of time that I could use to meditate or exercise, but I have been filling these times up with other things, like tv. I know its not good! Just to escape to another reality for 5 or 10 minutes! (Reading takes too much time, and I feel grumpy having to put it down when I am needed). So now I have put the tv away and the space for more positive activities has arrived. As I write here my child hangs on my arm waiting for me. This space has gone now, but I have meditated this morning and will meditate again tonight and I have written to you, so its looking good! But back to the beginning of my email, its not an easy job to see things as they are (there is a whole discussion in that comment!), and to step back from the stresses of life, but the rewards are magnificent.
